Den 24 augusti var det Nordiskt Skeppsmäklarmöte i Helsingfors. Sveriges Skeppsmäklareförening representerades av ordföranden Fredrik Hermansson och vd:n Berit Blomqvist.

Förutom den sedvanliga genomgången av det gångna året i respektive land, hade Finland i år isbrytning som tema.

Så här skriver Sari Turkkila, vd för Shipbrokers Finland om mötet:

The meeting agenda included a review of the previous operational year by each of the participating countries. In Finland, the special theme this year was an introduction to icebreaking at Arctia and issues related to security of supply and port operations. The event guests included representatives of the Finnish Port Operators Association: Juha Mutru, Managing Director and Kimmo Lehtinen, Director.

From Finland, the event was attended by representatives of Shipbrokers Finland: Chairman Tomi Rautio (C & C Port Agency), Board Member Svante Erikson (GAC Finland) and General Manager Sari Turkkila.

“We greatly value our Nordic co-operation. Meeting with our colleagues provides a good benchmark for developing and influencing our own activities in Finland and with partners in advocacy work internationally”, states Tomi Rautio, Chairman of Shipbrokers Finland.

Danish Shipbrokers and Port Operators is a joint association integrated in the Confederation of Danish Industry, which is Denmark’s largest employers’ organisation. The association represents more than 130 member companies within shipping, ship broking, ship agency, stevedoring and terminals. Jesper Sebbelin FICS, Leading Senior Advisor, covers the shipping side, and Jakob Svane, Leading Senior Advisor, covers the port operators side. Both have numerous years of experience in their field.

The Norwegian Shipbrokers’ Association has 115 member companies. Hans Nicolai Edbo is the long-standing General Manager of the association and Maiken Meyer oversees communications.

The Swedish Shipbrokers Association operates out of Gothenburg and has 117 member companies. The association is represented by Berit Blomqvist, the long-standing General Manager, and Fredrik Hermansson, Chairman.

In addition to agents and shipbrokers, the Swedish and Danish associations also represent all foreign container shipping companies operating in the countries as well as in Finland. In Norway, nearly all the members are shipbrokers.
